Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department travel position in Colorado, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a full suite of emergency certifications.
Details
- Work setting is the Emergency Department of a main hospital building in Lone Tree, CO
- 27-bed ED with approximately 60 staff members, with staffing adjusted throughout the day based on patient volume
- Patient ratio of 4:1 with a charge nurse who typically carries no patient assignment
- High-acuity ED volume: 30% admit rate, 20% ESI-2 patient volume, 28% EMS rate, and under 10% low-acuity volume
- Procedures include anything typical of a Level II trauma center, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy-capable stroke center
- Additional procedures include psychiatric/at-risk patient care, and procedural sedation using Propofol, Etomidate, and Ketamine
- EMR is Meditech (DOS platform); experience is preferred but not required
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and CPI (or an accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA)
- All certifications must be issued by AHA or ARC, and none may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ED experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Preferred candidates will have CEN certification and/or prior Meditech experience
- Experience in a high-volume ED is preferred
- The unit features a stable night shift team with consistent charge nurse leadership and highly engaged ED management
- This facility has implemented an alternative to opioids (ALTO) pain management program, reducing opioid usage by 34%
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- CEN certification is preferred but not required
