Description
American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for a 13-week travel contract at a small teaching hospital in Maine, with variable shifts covering all hours in a 24/7 department.
Details
- Work in a single CT room at an 89-bed teaching hospital serving ED, outpatient, and inpatient populations
- Patient population is primarily adult and geriatric with some pediatric cases
- Outpatient cases include oncology, general abdominal pain, post-surgical, and trauma
- Average of 25–30 scans per day
- Biopsy procedures performed on-site; training provided — prior experience not required
- Cross-coverage in X-ray may be required for overnight and weekend PTO coverage
- Variable shifts across a 24/7 department — specific shifts (days or nights) will vary based on departmental need
- Weekend rotation varies based on need
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage done in rotation with other techs
- Fixed assignment to the CT department; no floating within the department
- EMR: Cerner; PACS: AGFA Enterprise Imaging
- Equipment includes Siemens X.Cite and GE 16-slice PET CT (used as backup); experience with Siemens and GE preferred but not required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of CT Tech experience required; more experience preferred
- ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications required
- Current BLS required
- ME state license required; compact license accepted — license required if applicable
- Proficiency with CTA studies and general CT studies required
- IV start skills preferred
- Experience with Toshiba and GE equipment preferred
- Must be willing to work variable shifts across all hours in a 24/7 department
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St., Bangor, ME 04401) to be considered
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
- 2 references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse — peer references are not accepted
- Full SSN, copies of all certifications, and a Driver's License required for consideration
- All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
- Flu vaccination required for clearance to start; medical exemptions only, subject to facility approval

- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Orientation is 1–1.5 weeks depending on experience and comfort level
- Team includes a lead tech, on-site radiologist, and internal transport; 2 techs scheduled on weekdays and evenings, 1 tech on weekends
- RTO requires manager approval
- Scrubs may be any solid, professional color; facility scrubs are available if needed
- Free parking on-site
- Candidates living 100+ miles north of Bangor, ME may be considered on a case-by-case basis with individual approval
