Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience with trauma background and active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• 54-bed Emergency Department in a hospital setting, designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
• ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year, serving all age groups
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
• Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
• Evening/overnight shift: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL state or compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on RN license allowed
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
• 2 years of experience in a large hospital setting required
• Trauma experience required
• Required certifications: AHA or Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum
• Current driver's license required
• 2 professional references from within the last year required for consideration

Additional Information

• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
• All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site assessment test in addition to an online pre-test; a Cardiac Exam will be administered after offer acceptance
• No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
• Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
