Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and TNCC certification, with Epic proficiency required.
Details
- Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
- Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases with diagnoses such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, and multiple system trauma
- Heavy trauma patient volume with experience in post-cardiac surgery care (CABG/TAVR 24–48 hrs post-op) preferred but not required
- Patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2, with 1:3 occurring rarely and based on acuity
- Charting is performed in Epic (required), with Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell
- 12-hour day shifts at 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to adult floors, including Med/Surg and Tele at a 1:4 ratio, is uncommon and only occurs when overstaffed
Requirements
- Active RN license in South Dakota or a Compact state required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience, strongly preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience (excluding travel) plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics; hemodynamic lines; proning; and ventilator management
- Telemetry experience required
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
- Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not eligible; a minimum of one prior travel assignment is required
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 1 year before returning in a travel capacity
- Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit, a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, phlebotomy (peripheral draws only), respiratory therapy available 24/7, and physician coverage with 3 intensivists on days and 2 on nights plus an APP
- Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift in the ICU, plus hospital orientation
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking is available on site
- No RTO during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August); up to 7 days of RTO may be approved otherwise, with any extension requiring a full 13-week contract commitment
