Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring at least 1 year of experience, an active PA or Compact RN license, and night shift availability.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a community hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neurological (CVA, post-TPA, TBI, seizure disorders), renal/genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and post-surgical cases
• Key procedures include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, vasoactive and cardiac drip management (no titration), and tracheostomy care
• Respiratory management responsibilities include BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius may also be required
• Every other holiday required

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued only); NIHSS also required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior PCU, stepdown, or telemetry unit experience required
• Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and peripheral line management required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisor references (within the past 2 years) preferred
• Previous permanent employment at this facility disqualifies candidates from consideration

Additional Information

• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior travel experience is not required
• Local candidates are accepted at the travel rate
• Travel pairs are accepted based on facility need; same schedule cannot be guaranteed
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24–48 hours of contract signing
• Approximately 1 hour of pre-start modules must be completed before entering the facility
• All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to the start date
