Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and current ACLS/BLS certification.
Details
- Short term acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele Float unit
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
- 13-week assignment length
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for days and weekends, 1:6 for nights
- Required to work every other weekend or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday/Sunday)
- Holiday rotation coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floats within scope to Medical, Renal, Oncology, Neuro, Surgical, and Cardiology units
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Special equipment includes lift devices (training provided), ceiling lifts, and bladder scanners
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (no issuance if tied to another compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required (hard requirement)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- IV start and telemetry certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry remote monitoring
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, and oxygen administration preferred
- Pending license accepted for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology units as part of the float pool
- Float pool nurses call into a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this facility as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
