Description

American Traveler is hiring an MRI Technologist for a weekend rotation contract requiring 1-2 years of experience and strong Siemens 1.5T/3T scanner proficiency.

Details

  • Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 74 beds
  • MRI department serving inpatient, outpatient, and ED patients
  • Primarily adult population with pediatric patients accepted only if able to cooperate and hold still
  • 3T scanning includes prostate, abdomen, pelvis, and MRCP
  • 1.5T scanning includes extremity, brain, and spine
  • Less common scans such as breast and cardiac are typically avoided on weekends unless tech is comfortable
  • 12-hour day shifts scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 0800-2030
  • 36 standard hours per week
  • Utilizes Siemens Sola 1.5T and Siemens Skyra 3T scanners
  • EPIC EMR and McKesson/Change Healthcare PACS system
  • Deep Resolve AI software used to help reduce scan times
  • Typically 2 MRI techs and 1 imaging patient assistant staffed per shift, running two scanners
  • Lead tech coverage Monday through Friday, weekend staff work mostly independently
  • Virtual radiologist support available 24/7 via Teams or phone
  • No floating required
  • Weekend rotation is every weekend for this role
  • On-call rotation shared among 6-8 techs with a mix of weekdays and weekends, 30-minute response time expected
  • One holiday coverage requirement during the contract, covered through 24-hour on-call rotation
  • NEO orientation consisting of 1-2 shifts

Requirements

  • BLS and ARRT-MR or ARMRIT certification required
  • License required if applicable
  • 1-2 years of MRI experience required, outpatient experience accepted with a strong exam mix skill set
  • Strong and recent Siemens 1.5T and 3T experience required
  • Solid understanding of basic MR principles, practices, and MR safety protocols
  • Good screening habits and ability to follow implant workup policies
  • Peripheral IV start and IV contrast injection skills required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative team approach

Additional Information

  • Perform MRI scans across a variety of exam types for inpatient, outpatient, and ED populations
  • Support includes an imaging patient assistant/transporter on weekends to help with patient changes, screening, table transfers, transport, and room turnover
  • Outpatient emergencies are escalated to a first response team while inpatient/ED emergencies are managed by a rapid response team, with code team support also available
  • Time off approvals limited to 3-4 days
  • Scrubs of any color permitted
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they have significant and recent Siemens experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
