Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Pediatric ICU (CICU) position in Denver, CO, requiring at least 2 years of cardiac critical care experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Details
- Located on the 3rd floor of a children's hospital, within a 10-bed Cardiovascular Pediatric ICU (CICU) that partners with the PICU for staffing
- Patient population includes congenital cardiac patients, medical neonates, and post-operative cardiac surgical patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 for both day and night shifts
- Common procedures include post-op care with inotropic and vasopressor infusions, IVF and chest tube management, post-sternotomy/open chest care, and moderate sedation
- Specialized equipment includes Philips monitors, Medifusion and Baxter pumps, Centrimag, Prismax, and Arctic Sun
- EMR: Meditech
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the start date)
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac critical care experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and ECMO bedside experience
- This unit serves as the ECMO Center of the hospital, supporting complex congenital cardiac and neonatal patients
- Physician team is comprised of board-certified pediatric and congenital heart intensivists who collaborate closely with nursing staff
- RN team averages 10 years of nursing experience with a strong culture of safety and commitment to evidence-based practice
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible — a minimum of 2 years of cardiac critical care experience is required
