Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a major academic medical center in Ohio, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at an academic teaching hospital
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts per week)
- Every other weekend required
- 36 hours per week
- Floating required
- On-call required
- Epic EMR (preferred)
- Medication systems include Pyxis, Accudose, and Omnicell
- SBAR communication framework used
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Level II Trauma experience required
- Surgical ICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or Transplant ICU experience preferred
- Academic/teaching hospital experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Required skills include: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, titration of vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, IV insulin protocols, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and phlebotomy
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience preferred
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; no coworker references accepted
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
- Former employees of this health system are eligible to apply after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible for a travel assignment
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after signing a contract — candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or complete a mailed packet upon receipt
- Purchasable parking permit options are available on-site through CampusParc, including garage and surface lot options with varying access levels and shuttle service
