Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a 337-bed hospital that is a designated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes stroke, seizure, AMS, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially increasing to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 2 (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division including CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) as needed within scope of practice
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
- Unit supported by CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy, nurse educator, 24/7 hospitalist, and APP support
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
- Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) required
- General medical/surgical nursing skillset required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide Med/Surg Tele nursing care including cardiac monitoring and interpretation for patients with complex medical diagnoses
- No remote tele monitoring on the unit; nursing staff and charge/clinical supervisor are responsible for reading and posting rhythms every shift
- Unit culture is described as family oriented
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Clinical interviewing is required for this position
- Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
- RN scrub color is navy blue

- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
