Description

American Traveler is seeking a NICU/Peds Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of pediatric-only experience for a 12-hour night shift position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU teaching hospital.

Details

  • Children's hospital setting with 247 licensed beds, designated as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and teaching hospital
  • Respiratory care provided across all pediatric units throughout the facility, including ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and general medical floors
  • Patient population spans neonate through pediatric age ranges
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a (1900–0700)
  • 36 hours per week, with scheduling cycles every 6 weeks
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • No floating to other facilities due to specialty needs
  • EMR: Epic (candidates who test out of Epic may have faster onboarding)
  • IPPV/NIPPV ventilator experience required; additional equipment discussed during manager interview

Requirements

  • RRT or CRT credential required
  • Active NC licensure required (license required if applicable)
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience in a pediatric-only setting (Resource Team), with all experience in dedicated pediatric units — not mixed age populations
  • All pediatric experience must have been obtained within the past 5 years
  • Proficiency with IPPV/NIPPV ventilators required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered

Additional Information

  • Deliver respiratory therapy services to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients across multiple units within an all-pediatric facility
  • Supported by respiratory leadership within the department
  • Orientation consists of 3 days total for ED and general floor; travelers with multi-ICU experience will receive one day per unit they are assigned to, with 2 of those days dedicated to computer systems, equipment, and facility orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
  • RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; any contracted hours not met due to time off must be made up by extending the contract
  • Royal blue scrubs required
