Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring prior travel experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• Cares for patients with sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, post-op needs, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation precautions, and SI with medical indications
• Required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation preferred
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Experience in cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across the lifespan including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Document care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards
• Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring adaptability to changing patient safety practices
• Utilize strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups not accepted for this position
