Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring prior travel experience and Epic charting proficiency.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
- Cares for patients with sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, post-op needs, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation precautions, and SI with medical indications
- Required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (State or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
- Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation preferred
- Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Experience in cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across the lifespan including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Document care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards
- Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring adaptability to changing patient safety practices
- Utilize strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups not accepted for this position
