Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 1 year of telemetry/stepdown experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Details
- 24-bed Progressive Care/Stepdown/Telemetry unit within a comprehensive stroke center, Level II Trauma, and Chest Pain Accredited facility
- Cares for complex cardiac patients including PCI and open-heart surgery cases
- Typical patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4
- Night shift schedule, working 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response including Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and non-invasive airway management
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care to progressive care and stepdown patients requiring cardiac and telemetry monitoring
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former staff members must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is permitted during the first week of orientation
