Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/PICU night shift position at a children's hospital requiring RRT certification and at least 1.5 years of experience.

Details

• Work in the NICU at a children's hospital, with support extended to PICU, emergency department, and pediatric/adult acute and intermediate care wards
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• No call requirements
• May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals per unit needs
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Minimum 1.5 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• PICU or NICU experience required
• BLS and RRT certification required
• NRP and PALS certifications preferred
• State license required if applicable
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric ventilator management, including high frequency jet ventilation and oscillating ventilators
• Skilled in airway management, intubation assist, and suctioning techniques
• Experience with medication delivery systems and administration for respiratory conditions
• Care experience with ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, RSV, and other neonatal/pediatric respiratory conditions
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required with no exemptions accepted
• First-time travelers accepted for this position

Additional Information

• Provide bedside respiratory care modalities in accordance with hospital and departmental guidelines as ordered by healthcare providers
• Perform therapeutic interventions including airway management, therapeutic gases, ventilator management, newborn resuscitation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Conduct diagnostic procedures including arterial blood sampling, bedside spirometry, and point-of-care testing
• Deliver age-specific care in alignment with the hospital's Family Centered Care Program
• Assist and train other Respiratory Care Practitioners, students, and healthcare team members
• Maintain competency in current and new care modalities and equipment through required in-services and testing
• Chart and document all services provided per hospital policy
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mileage radius restriction
• Returning staff must have a gap of 6 or more months since their last assignment to be eligible for a new travel contract
• RTO must be submitted upfront and should not exceed two weeks
