Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Interventional Cardiac Unit (IVCU) position in Portsmouth, NH, requiring at least 2 years of experience in a hospital setting and telemetry proficiency on a night shift schedule.

Details

• 18-bed Interventional Cardiac Unit (IVCU) at a Level II Trauma Center, STEMI Hospital, and Stroke Center
• Patient population includes STEMI, NSTEMI, PCI, post-cath lab care, chest pain rule-out, CHF, and COPD
• Procedures performed include groin and radial access management, chest tubes, hi-flow oxygen, BiPAP, pericardiocentesis, thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomies, pacemaker management, and CIWA protocol
• Patient ratio is 4:1; unit staffing includes 5 RN teams with a CNC carrying 2 patients, 2 LNAs, and a Unit Clerk
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, Sara Steadys, hi-flow units, BiPAP, Kangaroo pumps, Hoyer lifts, and bladder scanners
• EMR system is Meditech Expanse
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required, scheduled in 4-week blocks
• Floating order: Travelers, PRN, PT Core, FT Core
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NH or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring required
• US Social Security Number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB) required for consideration; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include post-procedure cardiac nursing care, bedside shift rounds, patient handoff, and personal connection rounding
• IVCU has been recognized as a Unit of Distinction
• Professional attire/scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• This is a travel position only — local candidates will not be considered under any circumstances
