Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience and at least 2 prior travel assignments.

Details

  • 32-bed surgical step-down unit specializing in post-op cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patient care
  • 12 IMC beds with continuous cardiac monitoring, plus telemetry and non-monitored floor-level beds
  • Patient population includes post-op CABG, valve repairs, valve replacements, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices such as LVADs
  • Mixed level of care assignments with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 days and 1:4 nights
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
  • EMR: Epic (required)

Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience required
  • Strong Surgical IMC experience required
  • ICU experience required for management of high-acuity IMC patients
  • At least 2 prior travel assignments required
  • Experience at a facility with 500+ beds required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Fast-paced multidisciplinary unit caring for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries
  • Clinicians manage high-acuity patients including those with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices (e.g., LVADs) and post-transplant recovery
  • Orientation sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
  • Critical Care Certification (e.g., CCRN) is preferred
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
