Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an Operating Room position requiring at least 2 years of general surgery experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• General OR setting in a hospital environment
• Day shift with flexible start times: 6:45 AM–3:15 PM or 10:45 AM–7:15 PM, 5x8-hour shifts
• On-call required up to 12 hours per week (Monday 7 PM through Friday 7 AM) and 12 hours on weekends (Friday 7 PM–Sunday 7 PM)
• Every other holiday required
• Surgical specialties include general surgery, orthopedics, and laparoscopic procedures
• Core skills include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and laparoscopic-assisted procedures
• Preferred orthopedic skills include arthroscopy, arthrotomy, total joint replacement, laminectomy/discectomy, and fracture reduction
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• Active RN license — MD state license or compact license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of general surgery OR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required (minimum of 1 completed travel assignment)
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
• Driver's license required for local status determination

Additional Information

• Weekly orientation begins on Monday; ASAP start preferred
• Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; RTO must be declared upfront and cannot exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
• Manager interviews are not guaranteed; candidates must be comfortable proceeding without one
• Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of signing the contract
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
