Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant experience and a compact or LA RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Transplant ICU of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes surgical recovery, CVICU (post-op CABG, valve repair, aortic dissection), and transplant recovery patients (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:15-7:15)
  • Manager can accommodate 3x12 or 4x12 shift schedules
  • No block scheduling requests accepted
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units (SDUs)
  • No call-in shifts required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand at time of submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
  • Required experience in transplant care (liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas)
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD)
  • Preferred experience with pulmonary artery (PA) catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and ventilator management
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing for post-surgical and transplant recovery patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, with expectation to remain onsite until relief arrives
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
