Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric OR RN with Trauma Level I experience for a 10-week travel contract at a children's hospital in Oakland, CA, requiring a CA RN license in hand.

Details

  • Pediatric Operating Room (OR) setting within a children's hospital
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts; variable start times of either 6:45 AM or 8:45 AM based on department need
  • Schedule is Mon–Fri with occasional weekend shifts
  • Rotation of shift start times may vary week to week based on department need
  • Pediatric surgical patient population across a wide range of specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, urology, ENT, cardiovascular, craniofacial, and more
  • Epic EMR required
  • Floating may be required to other UC facilities within the region at any time during the assignment, provided qualifications are met

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license currently in hand
  • BSN required
  • Active BLS and PALS certifications required
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Pediatric General OR experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Prior experience in children's facility required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Preferred experience includes: Ambulatory OR, CVOR, General OR, Pedi CVOR, and Trauma settings
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Scrub and circulating responsibilities across a broad range of pediatric surgical specialties
  • Key required skills include: infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedure, urinary bladder catheterization, and administration of blood and blood products
  • Preferred skills include a wide range of procedural competencies across plastics, oral, neurology, orthopedics, cardiovascular, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, and more — a detailed skills checklist will be provided
  • Any previous employment with any University of California medical facility or affiliated/acquired facility must be disclosed with full employment history, dates, units, and manager names for a rehire eligibility check
  • Travel pairs are permitted but will generally not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rates as travel candidates
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • All RTO must be disclosed upfront; RTO requires manager approval and cannot be requested within the first two weeks of the assignment or mid-contract
  • Pre-start and annual modules are required; modules vary by unit and specialty
  • Holidays and coverage expectations are consistent with department scheduling needs
