Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2 years of RN experience and a Compact RN license in hand.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a short-term acute care hospital
- 13-week assignment with option to extend to 21-26 weeks
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating between units and sister facilities may be required based on skill set
- No on-call responsibilities
- 48-hour work weeks approved
- Charting performed in Epic
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact) required in hand at time of submission
- OR RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Experience with blood product administration required
- Skilled in feeding tube care and bariatric surgery patient management
- Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and renal failure management
- Knowledge of heparin protocols and cardiac/vasoactive drip management (no titration)
- Experience with high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team participation
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
- Knowledge of IV insulin protocols required
- Experience with surgical drain care required
- Must have a vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a med/surg telemetry patient population
- Perform early mobilization and CHG bath protocols as part of daily care
- May float to sister facilities including Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent
- Additional incentive pay and mileage reimbursement offered for floating to Seaside facility
- Hotel accommodations provided for consecutive floating shifts to Seaside
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay rate
- Local candidates within the radius may be accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- First-time travelers will be screened but may be considered
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required
- Scrub color requirements vary by department, with OR/L&D scrubs provided by the facility
- No parking fees at this facility
