Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel nursing experience and hands-on management of continuous IV cardiac drips.

- Cardiac Telemetry unit with occasional overflow to IMCU, Ortho, and CVA patients
- Cares for adult to geriatric patients with conditions including arrhythmia management, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary issues (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), and stable A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia
- Also manages select surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains) and post cardiac cath patients with TR bands
- Occasional DKA patient care included
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 32-bed unit
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Rare call requirements with a 2-hour response time
- Every other weekend shift typical, with core staff scheduled first
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience managing continuous IV medications required, including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- Experience with TR Bands and basic arrhythmia knowledge required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care preferred
- Experience with PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and feeding tube care preferred
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and utilizing rapid response/code teams required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry nursing care across a diverse patient population with fundamental med-surg skills required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
- Holiday coverage required: one major holiday worked if one falls during the assignment, two if two occur; if three major holidays occur, two must be worked
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Full compliance required prior to start; delays in compliance may result in a two-week push back due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
