Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN - MedSurg/Tele for a 12-hour night shift contract role requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience.
Details
- Work on a 32-bed Medical/Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Facility is a designated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes stroke, seizure, AMS, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
- RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially increasing to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, totaling 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within region and scope of practice to other facilities as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
- General medical/surgical nursing skillset required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

- Provide comprehensive medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care within a family-oriented unit culture
- Supported by a robust care team including CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Nurse Educator, and 24/7 Hospitalist and APP support
- No remote tele monitoring; unit clerk, charge/clinical supervisor, and staff are responsible for reading and posting rhythms every shift
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Required to wear Navy Blue scrubs
- Free parking provided
- Must work 75% of holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles outside of the home unit; local candidates are not accepted
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before returning as a traveler
