Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and at least 1 year of L&D experience with a 1:2 patient ratio.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting with LDRP capabilities
- Facility performs 100-200 births per month
- Patient population includes labor patients, antepartum patients from 27 weeks, PIH/Magnesium patients, and preterm labor patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 1900-0700, with 36 or 48 hour contract options by traveler preference
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- No floating required
- Documentation via EPIC and GE Centricity
- Unit utilizes continuous fetal monitoring, NST, fetal scalp electrode placement, and amnioinfusion
- RN assists anesthesia during epidural placement and attends (does not scrub) C-sections
Requirements
- Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- OB Triage experience highly preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience required
- Experience in large healthcare facilities required
- Skilled in IV starts, amnioinfusion, and assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including adult and neonatal arrest, preferred
- Experience administering Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and other labor-related medications preferred
- Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and other high-risk OB conditions preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive Labor and Delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Perform fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of internal/external fetal monitors
- Support patients through high-risk conditions such as multiple gestation, VBAC trials, and uterine rupture
- Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding support, wound care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage
- Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including resuscitation and ID banding
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Traveler's permanent address must be at least 90 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates will not be accepted
- This is a Do Not Call facility
- Former permanent staff are not eligible for travel roles for 10 years following separation
- Travelers who complete 2 consecutive contracts must take a 6-month break before returning, with exceptions considered case-by-case
- First-time travelers may be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate experience
- Pre-start modules required prior to assignment
