Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 3+ years of high-acuity, high-volume ED experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
- Level III trauma center Emergency Department within a 226-bed non-profit community hospital
- 34 ED beds with 200-250 patient visits per day, making it the busiest ED in the state
- ED is organized into zones including a 13-bed fast track (green zone)
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma cases
- Treats stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma patients
- Handles transfer-out cases requiring stabilization for neurosurgery and high-acuity pediatric patients
- Patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a) with 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend, with occasional back-to-back weekends
- No floating or on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR required
- 17-week contract with a firm start date
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a large volume, high-acuity Emergency Department required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and either PALS or ENPC
- Must pass hospital's Triage Test prior to performing triage duties
- Skilled in barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
- Experience setting up chest tubes and arterial lines required
- Experience assisting with trauma and code cases, splinting, and BiPAP/ventilator management required
- Strong understanding of ESI required
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
- Point of Care Labs experience is a plus
- Epic EMR experience required

- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities and age groups in a high-volume trauma setting
- Scrubs may be any color with no logos
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
