Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry night shift position requiring an active PA or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

• Work in the PCU/Telemetry unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for cardiac telemetry, stepdown, and related patient populations
• Maintains a 1:6 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to float within the hospital based on specialty-specific needs
• May be required to float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA-accepted only)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Charting system experience required (any system accepted)
• Cerner experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with wound care, cardiovascular procedures, and orthopedic care preferred
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years preferred

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care to telemetry and progressive care patients, including cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias
• Performs skilled nursing tasks such as IV therapy, line management, and respiratory support as needed
• Participates in interpretation and management of cardiac and neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, and seizure disorders
• Required to work every other holiday
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Travel pairs may be accepted based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
