Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Chemo unit position requiring ONS/ONCC Chemo certification and a CT or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Chemo unit of a short term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds
- Level II Trauma Center
- Care for oncology patients including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma, and other cancer types
- Perform chemotherapy administration, IV push and continuous infusion, and management of oncologic emergencies
- Utilizes EPIC charting system
- Day shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Floating to other Med/Surg units required
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS, and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required in specialty, though 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, port access and management, central line care, and PICC line care required
- Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis
- 1 professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with only religious/medical exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct chemotherapy administration and monitoring for oncology patients across a variety of cancer diagnoses
- Manage central lines, ports, and infusion pumps while recognizing and responding to abnormal lab values and treatment side effects
- Support patients and families with education related to their cancer treatment and care plan
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Facility does not accept local candidates within a 75 mile radius of the hospital
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
- Previous staff must be gone for 2 years before returning as a traveler
