Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience, ACLS, and NIHSS certification on night shift.
Details
- , 23-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital with an average daily census of 21 patients
- Patient population includes chest pain, rule-out stroke, syncope, dizziness, and respiratory illness cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5
- 12-hour night shift, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Floating required within the region to other nursing units and facilities as needed, within scope of practice
- Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
- Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit including cardiac monitoring, wound and drain management, and medication administration
- Supported by a dedicated Supervisor, free-floating Charge RN, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage, and a combined Phlebotomy/IV team
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers will be required to work approximately 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
- Navy scrub color required
- Free employee parking deck available

- First-time travelers considered, though not preferred
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Previous employees must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible to return
