Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Interventional Radiology RN with Neuro IR and Level I Trauma experience for a Level I Trauma hospital IR department.
Details
- Acute care setting within a Level I Trauma hospital's Interventional Radiology department
- Unit includes 5 angio rooms, 2 CT scanners, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine
- Cases include body IR procedures such as chemo embolization, Y-90, GJ, IVC filters, vascular access, angiograms, CT biopsy, ablations, US biopsies, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
- Neuro endovascular and stroke treatment cases are also performed in the department
- Serves outpatient and inpatient populations, including critical care and telemetry patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Charge nurse present on the unit
- Support staff includes IR techs, CT techs, nuclear medicine techs, and ultrasound techs
- 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalist/intensivist coverage
- VAT team available for PICC lines and SWAT team for difficult IV access
- Schedule consists of 4x10-hour shifts, either 0700-1730 or 0730-1800 based on shift need
- On-call responsibilities required, averaging 4-5 call shifts per month
- Occasional Saturday shifts required (1-2 per month) with possible holiday coverage as needed
- Scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred
- Neuro IR experience required
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Pre-op, PACU, or ICU experience required
- Experience with pre- and post-procedural care for patients undergoing conscious sedation and general anesthesia
- IR RN experience preferred; ICU RNs with IR experience will also be considered
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
- Must pass a Sterile Technique competency exam on Day 1 of orientation for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
- Men must be clean shaven to accommodate fit testing
- Must have access to a personal vehicle
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide pre- and post-procedural nursing care for patients undergoing IR procedures, including recovery from conscious sedation and general anesthesia
- RNs hired for this role will work in body IR only and will not be assigned to the neuro endovascular area
- Complete a Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab competency check for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, along with educational sessions on lifts, restraints, and wound care
- Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Candidates who fail the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exams on the second attempt will be ineligible for placement within the CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento regions for 6 months
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
