Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro critical care skills and proficiency in Epic for a night shift assignment in Coastal Virginia.
Details
- ICU setting caring for medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma critical care patients
- Typical patient ratio is 1:2-3
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Must work two of three winter holidays if extending through January 9, 2027
- Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only), and NIHSS
- Proficiency in Epic required, no exceptions
- Strong neuro critical care experience required
- Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Experience with emergency response and critical care management
- Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
- No history of license or background hits accepted
- Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing accommodations
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing services across medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma ICU patient populations
- Manage complex cases including CVA/acute stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy, and traumatic brain injury care
- Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- EKG competency testing required with a minimum passing score of 80%, one attempt only with no remediation available
- 3 hours of billable modules required prior to start date
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- RTO requests must be submitted with application and will be reviewed on a per-case basis
- First-time travelers are not required but may be considered based on qualifications
