Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an ICU position requiring strong neuro critical care experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
- Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required within the contract
- Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
- Strong neuro critical care experience required
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required
- Skills required include ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Additional skills include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Neurological skills including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery management
- Cardiovascular drip titration for cardiac and vasoactive medications
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- No history of license or background hits permitted, no exceptions
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients, including complex neuro, cardiac, and respiratory cases
- Must pass a facility EKG/telemetry competency test with a minimum score of 80%, with only one attempt allowed and no remediation available
- Complete approximately 3 hours of pre-start modules
- Cannot accommodate PAPR use; any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Holiday coverage required, including two of the three winter holidays for assignments extending through January 2027
- Longer assignment through January 9, 2027 is available but not required
- Two professional references required for consideration
