Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ICU position requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and strong neuro critical care experience.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
• Care for critical care patients including neuro critical care, medical, surgical, and trauma cases
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Day shift schedule of 3x12s or 4x12s (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
• Float required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Strong neuro critical care experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Skills required include ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• No history of license or background hits permitted
• Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will disqualify candidates
• EKG proficiency testing required with a passing score of 80% or higher, with no remediation available

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing services including emergency response and management of complex, critically ill patients
• Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available but not required, with a requirement to work two of the three winter holidays if extended
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible for this RN position
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required, so first-time travelers may be considered
• Requested time off must be submitted for review and will be approved on a case-by-case basis
