Description
American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN with strong neuro critical care experience for a 21-week assignment requiring an active VA or compact RN license and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital environment
- Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage within the contract required
- Must work two of the three winter holidays for longer assignments
- Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Three years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
- Strong neuro critical care experience required
- Proficiency in Epic charting system required
- Skills required include ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- No history of license or background hits permitted
- No history of fit test issues permitted, as facility cannot accommodate a PAPR
- EKG competency test required with minimum 80% passing score
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management, drip titration, and emergency response
- Care for patients requiring neuro critical care interventions such as EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy management
- Located in the Coastal Virginia region near Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to outdoor recreation
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- Local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Requested time off must be submitted in advance and will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
- 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules required
