Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro Stepdown position requiring ACLS certification and prior stepdown experience.

Details

• Work on a 30-bed unit with 22 acute care beds and 8 stepdown beds within a Neuro Stepdown department
• Patient ratios of 6:1 on Acute Care and 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown
• Unit staffed with one charge RN over the tower, 1-2 techs, and a unit secretary
• Acute Care side uses vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, and various drips for stroke patients
• Neuro Stepdown side uses Vapotherm, BiPap, trach care, and titrating cardiac drips
• Common procedures performed include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• 13-week assignment on night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required
• Experienced nurses may float after orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior Neuro Stepdown experience preferred
• Strong acute care nursing skills and time management required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide bedside shift report, personal connection, and daily huddle as part of patient experience standards
• Dress code allows black, any shade of blue or grey scrubs, with any color scrubs permitted on Fridays
• Unit offers ICARE recognition, shout-out board, and employee of the month awards
• Excellent starting unit for nurses transitioning into ICU care
• No local candidates will be considered for this position
