Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Observation Unit (Med Surg) position requiring BLS and NIHSS certifications with heavy telemetry monitoring experience.

- Works in the 2C Observation Unit within a Med Surg acute care setting
- 22-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6, with charge nurse occasionally taking patients
- Cares for miscellaneous medical observation patients with discharges/admissions up to 16 per day
- Heavy telemetry unit monitored by central monitoring staff
- RNs perform own EKGs and draw own labs
- No ventilators on this unit
- CNA support available at a 1:2 ratio when staffing allows
- Uses MEDITECH EMR system
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, working every other weekend
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to other Med Surg units
- Fast-paced, high-turnover environment
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA state or compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Current NIHSS certification required
- ACLS certification not required but highly recommended
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Minimum 1 prior travel assignment required
- No BSN required for this position
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced medical observation unit
- Rotate holiday coverage along with permanent staff
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Dress code requires Caribbean Blue and/or white scrub tops and bottoms per specified color combinations
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for placement
- Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
