Description
American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown unit requiring at least 1 year of stroke center experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Work in the Cardiac Stepdown/Advanced Heart Care (AHC) unit of a hospital setting
- Blended acuity patient population with ratios of 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 19:00-07:00
- Every other weekend required, negotiable
- No on-call responsibilities
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active KY or Compact RN license required in hand
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (obtained within 2 years of start date)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in cardiac stepdown or telemetry setting required
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a certified stroke center or stroke unit required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, first-time travelers not accepted
- Stroke signs/symptoms competency required (e.g. BE-FAST)
- Bedside dysphagia screening competency required
- Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Care for patients pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and post-MI
- Manage cardiac drips per heparin protocols and IV insulin protocols
- Skills needed include IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
- Respiratory care skills preferred, including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- Must reside within a 65-mile radius of the facility, with local travelers not accepted
- Must be able to remain within 30 minutes of the facility in case of emergency
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to assignment start
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
- Orientation is held on Mondays
