Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with at least 2 years of adult critical care experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • in in the Cardiovascular ICU and Medical-Surgical ICU at a teaching hospital's cardiac and vascular tower
  • Cardiovascular ICU treats postop cardiac, thoracic, and complex vascular surgery patients, including heart and lung transplant, durable LVAD, temporary mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, IABP, and Impella cases
  • Medical-Surgical ICU treats mixed medical and abdominal surgical patients, including ARDS, septic shock, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, GI hemorrhage, pulmonary hypertension, and perforated viscous cases
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend
  • No on-call requirement
  • Limited floating may occur to the Main Hospital adult population under the same policies, equipment, and charting requirements
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November)

Requirements

  • NBRC RRT certification required; CRT candidates will also be considered
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
  • SC Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) license accepted; South Carolina RRT license must be in hand at time of start
  • License required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of adult critical care experience required
  • First-time travelers not accepted
  • Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Facility is a Magnet-recognized, teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
  • Participate in emergency team activations as required
  • Scrub color is Caribbean Blue
  • Radius rule of 60 miles applies; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
