Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2+ years of Pre-Op/Post-Op/PACU experience and Epic EMR proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Post Anesthesia Care unit of a hospital environment
- 16-bed unit with patient ratios of 2:1
- Patient population ranges from 6 months of age through geriatrics
- Schedule consists of 3x12-hour day shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
- One weekend shift (Saturday/Sunday) required
- On-call responsibilities as needed for 2nd call
- Holiday coverage may be required for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as 2nd call
- Floating required to sister units for additional support as well as on-campus surgery center based on case volume
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active VA RN license or Compact license required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PACU RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Preferred experience with titrating drips, cardiac cases, and multi-specialty patient care
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PACU phases
- Navy blue scrubs required per facility dress code policy
- Candidates must reside outside a 65-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

Everyone has been very helpful and kind. The hospital is clean and pretty easy to navigate to rooms and floors. It's in a good location.
Cons
Not a whole lot of short term homes for rent but some nice hotels and rooms for rent. Not a lot of things to do during off time but DC and Shenandoah Park are a short drive. So are a lot of caverns.
