Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with 2+ years of Peds ICU experience for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a children's hospital
• Floats within scope to all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend and rotate holidays
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
• Requires an EMR charting system

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (American Heart Association only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Skilled in emergency and anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations
• Experienced in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in acute airway care/maintenance and interpretation of ABGs
• Experience managing chest tubes and central/PICC line care
• Experience with ICP monitoring
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of infection control, PPE, and isolation precautions
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Deliver critical care nursing services to pediatric patients across multiple ICU units
• May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
• First-time travelers considered if they meet the required experience
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate
• Radius rule of 60 miles applies, with non-local candidates prioritized
