Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position requiring a GA or Compact license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

  • Work in a Medical-Surgical unit within a hospital setting
  • Care for general medical-surgical patients including peritoneal dialysis and radial band recovery (no PCI)
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:6
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management required
  • Experience with central line blood draw, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs preferred
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience required
  • Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias preferred
  • Telemetry monitoring experience (on-unit and remote) preferred
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE required
  • Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning required
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience required
  • Experience managing surgical drains required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • No prior travel nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to general medical-surgical patients including those recovering from radial band procedures and peritoneal dialysis
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
  • Practice strict isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
  • No schedule requests or block scheduling accommodations available
  • Holiday coverage required per facility policy: work 1 holiday if 1-2 major holidays fall during assignment, or 2 holidays if 3 major holidays occur during the assignment period
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Candidates with prior permanent, per diem, or FCSS employment at this health system must be separated for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Returning travelers who canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside this health system before reapplying
