Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Endoscopy unit position requiring 2+ years of GI/Endoscopy experience and a GA or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a high-volume Endoscopy unit averaging 45-65 cases daily across 8 procedure rooms
- Care for both inpatient and outpatient populations undergoing GI and pulmonary procedures
- Unit performs a range of cases including basic EGDs and colonoscopies as well as complex interventional GI procedures such as ERCP, EUS, POEM, and cystgastrostomy
- Respiratory therapists are unit-based to assist with bronchoscopies, and GI techs support the full range of procedures
- All cases are supported by an in-house anesthesia group
- Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirements
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy/GI nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Epic charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with specimen handling and labeling
- Experience circulating and assisting with bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, and EGD procedures
- Experience with pre/post-procedure care and conscious sedation recovery
- Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include circulating, assisting with GI/endoscopic procedures, and providing pre- and post-procedure patient care including conscious sedation monitoring and recovery
- Candidates must be able to work within a fast-paced, high-volume endoscopy setting supported by anesthesia and respiratory therapy teams
- Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and RTO must be finalized at time of submission
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period, with limited flexibility for holiday RTO requests
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who previously cancelled or were do-not-return at a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
- Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
- Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
