Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active NC or compact RN license and prior Med/Tele experience.
Details
- Work in a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a 337-bed hospital setting
- Care for patients with diagnoses including stroke, seizure, AMS, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
- RN patient ratios of 1:5-6 with potential surge staffing up to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
- General medical/surgical nursing skillset required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a family-oriented unit culture supported by dedicated CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, pharmacist, case managers, clinical nurse specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, hospitalist, and APP support
- Unit does not utilize remote tele monitoring; staff are responsible for reading and posting telemetry each shift
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Scrub color for RNs is Navy Blue
- Free parking is available onsite
- Clinical interview required prior to placement
- Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
