Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a Labor & Delivery/Antepartum/OB unit at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring an active IL RN license and a BSN.

Details

  • Oversee patient care operations within the Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and OB 4 South units on a 24-hour basis
  • Manage clinical and personnel operations including staffing, budgeting, and quality service delivery for the unit
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Weekend coverage as needed, not to exceed one weekend shift per month
  • Floating required across various units within specialty, with occasional floating outside primary competency supported by a team-based care model
  • May float to other Cook facilities within a 50-mile radius, with notification as early as 2 hours prior to shift start
  • Uses Cerner EMR system

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the State of Illinois (IL) required, in hand prior to consideration
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
  • Five years of nursing experience within a Labor & Delivery and/or Antepartum OB/Postpartum unit required
  • Two years of nursing supervision or charge nurse experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Additional Information

  • Directly supervise and evaluate all nursing staff activities within the assigned unit
  • Handle clinical and personnel management responsibilities including staffing decisions and disciplinary actions in accordance with applicable policies
  • Participate in collective bargaining discussions and consult with Labor Relations as needed
  • Work at a Level 1 Trauma Center facility
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required with no exceptions; booster not required
  • Two professional references required prior to start, from most recent employers with only one reference accepted per employer
  • Candidates residing within a 75-mile radius of the facility will be considered local
  • RTO requests limited to a maximum of 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no time off approved on weekends
  • No RTO permitted on holidays or the day before/after a holiday
  • Contract may be subject to cancellation if a call-out occurs on a holiday
  • Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not accommodated
  • Returning clinicians must complete full recredentialing and orientation, even if the prior contract break was less than 30 days
  • Compliance lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
