Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and at least one year of relevant nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for patients across the lifespan including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Uses equipment such as PCA machines, kangaroo pumps, and sequential compression devices
• Performs procedures including central line insertion, chest tube insertion and management, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
• Uses Epic for charting
• Night shift schedule from 6:00pm to 6:30am
• 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts
• Weekend and holiday shifts required as needed

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Skilled in IV access (peripheral, central line, PICC, and/or Infusaport), IM and SQ injections
• Experience with TPN administration, thrombolytic therapy, and blood glucose monitoring
• Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs
• Deliver bedside shift report and maintain updated patient communication boards for continuity of care
• Delegate and validate completion of patient care tasks assigned to health care technicians
• Administer medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration
• Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and promote positive outcomes
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for consideration
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
