Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and CO or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Med-surg PCU/Stepdown unit with mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients
• All rooms are negative pressure capable and equipped with ceiling lifts
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating to sister units within the region may be required based on facility needs, with advance notice given to the traveler
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
• First-time travelers accepted; approximately 2 years of PCU/ICU experience requested for first contract
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, heparin protocols, and PCA
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a mixed patient population including cardiac, respiratory, minor trauma, and mildly unstable hemodynamic cases
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for cardiac emergencies
• Complete all facility-specific training modules within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
• RTO is not permitted during select blackout periods including early September, late October through early November, late November through early December, and year-end holidays
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for the local pay rate
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates may be subject to eligibility restrictions
• Travelers who completed a full year on assignment may need to wait at least one year before being rebooked
