Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active NY license and EPIC experience.

Details

• Work in the Acute Stroke Unit (PCU) of a 39-bed combined unit at a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds
• Care for acute stroke patients, other neurological disorders, and acute medical patients using an adjustable acuity delivery of care model
• Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg patients
• Floating required within skillset
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills required include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management)
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy including peripheral line care and management
• Administer respiratory support via nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks with non-invasive airway management
• Follow isolation precautions protocols
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• Candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Returning staff must have a 6-month break system-wide before reapplying
