Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- , 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
- Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (day and night), with possible surge ratios up to 1:7-8
- CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Possibility of low census call, with call-back required up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
- Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
- General med/surg skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to a diverse patient population with cardiac, respiratory, and neurologic conditions
- Unit support includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, on-site/virtual hospitalist coverage, 24/7 intensivist coverage, and remote telemetry monitoring via tele tech
- Utilizes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required

- Local candidates are not accepted due to a 50-mile radius rule
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
