Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• , 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (day and night), with possible surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possibility of low census call, with call-back required up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General med/surg skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to a diverse patient population with cardiac, respiratory, and neurologic conditions
• Unit support includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, on-site/virtual hospitalist coverage, 24/7 intensivist coverage, and remote telemetry monitoring via tele tech
• Utilizes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
