Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel experience managing craniotomy and EVD patients.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Care for ICU and IMC patient populations including neurosurgical and trauma cases
• 13-week assignment with Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) 3x12 hour shifts available
• Every other weekend and some holiday coverage required
• Open to FTE 1.2
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Prior travel nursing experience required, specifically with craniotomy and EVD patients (hardstop requirement)
• ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and 80% or higher overall passing score
• Skilled in critical care procedures including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, ventilator management, EVD and ICP monitoring, and titration of vasoactive/cardiac drips

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU and surgical ICU patients, including post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management
• Manage patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, acute stroke, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management, including FloTrac/Vigileo use
• Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and emergency medications as needed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role due to required travel experience with craniotomy and EVD patients
