Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified position requiring an active MI license and prior chemotherapy/oncology experience.

Details

  • , 4x12-hour Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Oncology Chemo Certified unit caring for patients undergoing bone marrow transplant, cell and gene therapy, and chemotherapy treatments
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Responsibilities include cell and gene therapy administration, blood product administration, chemotherapy and conditioning treatment administration, supportive care, and triage

Requirements

  • Chemo (erapy Nurse (ONS/ONCC) certification preferred
  • Ncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line care, PICC line care, and IV push administration of chemotherapy required
  • Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, sepsis, and extravasation injury
  • Experience with symptom management including nausea/vomiting, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane changes
  • Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma
  • Bone marrow transplant experience preferred, though experience administering cells is not required
  • Two professional references required from a manager or supervisor (Charge RNs not accepted)

Additional Information

  • , chchemotcentral chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and management of cytotoxic spills
  • Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
  • Utilize neutropenic precautions and appropriate isolation/PPE protocols
  • Coordinate care and perform telephone triage as needed
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this role
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Candidates must not have worked for Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan or Sparrow Hospital) within the last 12 months
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a one-year separation
  • No time off requests permitted during the first week of the contract
  • Required certifications must be obtained prior to the start date
