Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with trauma and teaching hospital experience for a day shift position at a Level II trauma center.
Details
- Work in a Respiratory Therapy department within a Level II trauma center with interventional stroke certification and a Level III NICU serving as the regional transport resource
- Patient population ranges from infants to geriatrics, primarily adult with pediatric intubated patients as needed
- Manages non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, oxygen management, and patient education
- Performs arterial lines, arterial blood gases, capillary blood gases, and blood draws from lines
- Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and to sister campus as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, and Viasys Avea systems
- Slate gray scrubs required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma experience required, Level II trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and RRT
- GA state license required (license required if applicable)
- NRP certification preferred
- Experience with adult critical care and emergency department settings
- Experience with pediatric critical care preferred
- Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Skilled in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Skilled in interpretation of arterial blood gases
- Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care services across adult and pediatric intubated patient populations
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity trauma and stroke center environment
- Support the NICU as a regional transport resource
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO finalized at time of submission
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- If three major holidays fall within the assignment, coverage of two holidays is expected
- Compliance documentation must be completed promptly to avoid start date delays due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Returning employees or travelers must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before reapplying as a traveler
