Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a CT or compact RN license and Level I Trauma Center experience.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center
• General ED serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• Average patient ratios of 1:6 during days and nights
• Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Assigned to one campus with possible crosstraining and floating to other campuses and ED observation
• Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required, or pending license accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC required; NIHSS, PALS, ENPC, and CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 1.5 years accepted with Level I Trauma or travel experience
• Level I Trauma Center experience required; Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with skills such as IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and violent behavior
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Experience with neuro-trauma care including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• One professional reference required for consideration
• Flu vaccination required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccination and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care within a Level I Trauma Center setting serving a large, high-acuity patient population
• Facility is a short-term acute care hospital with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Open to accommodating block scheduling
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
